I got that data from a chart that was posted by another member. He got it from carberators.com. apparently even they make mistakes. I respectfully yield to more knowledgable members. (I will however be correcting that table for future reference)

I saw that same conflicting chart. Plagued me no end till I had to use prevailing data to chose a side. IE later models did put bigger jets in the inner cyls. SF parts show a 3h3 tube in 2&3. and 2h7 in 1&4. 79f all 2h7

on my air jets, i got the jets out, but when i spray carb cleaner into the holes behind the jets, 2 and 4 cleaner goes all the way through, 1 and 3 cleaner shoots back at me... how do i clean those ports? ive tried everything i know of....

are u talking about the air jets being blocked?
poke a tooth pic into the jet and clean it out
that way.

or if ur talking about the air jet port at the back of the carb bell?
lightly seat the mixture screw and spray carb cleaner/compressed air into the
pilot jet tower that should help blow anything out of the air jet port,
if that doesnt clean it ull have to soak the carbs,
if that does clean it, with the mixture screw lightly seated, put ur finger
over the pilot jet tower, open the butterflys and spray carb cleaner
into the pilot air jet port and watch for the cleaner to come out
of the off idle ports (the 3 small holes inside the carb throat.)

I use a small

guage wire to clean the first inch or so up to the bend. Don't break anything off in there or your screwed. If you can get the wire to start a hole the compressed air and carb cleaner usually will finish the job. We have mud wasps up here and they love little holes like that for nesting.

Yes an o-ring...

Im in the nw area of houston, near the woodlands....ive got a few ideas for the washers...something else i just saw, the idle mixture screw, thank god the tips are intact, however, is there supposed to be some sort of rubber grommet inside the housing? when I took off the screw, there was just the screw and spring...

...is supposed to be installed on the screw itself before installation.
Also wipe a little silicone grease on the o-ring to make installation and adjustment not only easier but safer for the o-ring.

There's supposed to be a washer between the spring and the o-ring, otherwise when you turn the idle screw the spring will chew up the ring.

i have a 79 special. is there an oring on those? ive heard yes and no....

That picture above is for the 80 and later carbs, the 78-79 carbs have no O ring, just the spring and the screw.

thank u bikerphil...i think i have most of the carb nomenclature down, but can somebody please draw a picture or put labels on an existing picture to explain to me what each port is called? i cant get the port behind the air jet port cleared on carb 1 and 3...ive tried everything, at least that I know of....

A +1 what Steve said............NA from Yammy, but Suzuki, yes, part#13291-29900. BTDT last year. Tiny O-ring Suzy part#13295-29900. Hope that helps those with the later 80-82 carbs.

It's interesting that that part is NLA as the BS34 MkIII is still in production and AFAIK will uses the same idle mix needle. The only change is that current production models are electrically heated now rather than having an enrichment circuit. I forget what bike I was looking at recently in the Yamaha dealer showroom, but I was sure I saw Mikuni BS34 MkIII carbs on it. Of course as I recall it one of the bottom of the line cruisers, all the top of the line ones are fuel injected as are ALL the sport bike and sport touring bikes and the carb bikes are becoming more rare.

so ive tried air compressor now too, still cant get the port behind the air jet unblocked on 1 and 3, is there anything i can use more caustic than carb cleaner?
