Brent, as the lads here say, usually going from 17" to 16" is how folk go, do you want the 17" for better gas mileage?
Obviously the wheel, and the steel torque plate from the 17" wheel bikes and their wheel spacers. The caliper and caliper carrier are the same.
If you don't want to use the different steel brake torque plate you can bend yours to fit the swing arm peg and use washers to make sure the caliper bracket fits over the disc centrally.
Here are the different wheels and spacers
This is the Special
The bearing housing on the Standard wheel protrudes further out than the Special wheel bearing housing.
This is Standard
Or you could go the long way round and make up your own parts, heres a combined bracket/torque plate for holding a front caliper on the rear wheel

Brent,
Why the 17" wheel? Is it even OK to run a 130 mm wide tire on a 2.5 in rim? I wouldn't do it.Marty (in Mississippi)

I don't think you'll find a tire manufacturer that says it's OK to put their 5 in wide tire on a 2.5 in rim. I'm pretty sure they recommend at least 3 in. IIRC, there are 25.4 mm in an inch. I'm not trying to start something, but I thought it worthy of pointing out.Marty (in Mississippi)

Hey Marty, you could always talk Brent out of the 17" rear wheel mod and into the 750FD upgrade, the ratios should be pretty close between the two. The 17" rear wheel raises the bike though.2H7 (79) owned since '89

I was measuring from the outside because the tire is on but calculating where the inner tire surface contacted. That's why I said ABOUT.Greg

And as I recall the 130/70-17 is about the same width but a little shorter in height. Which is why I say the Marty is mistaken as Yamaha would not have specified the tire they did if there was a problem with that width tire on the standards rim.Cy

I'm looking at what the tire manufacturers recommend. Have a look. I guess tires have changed over the years. It's the tire manufacturers that recommend the 3 in rim for the 130 mm tire. I look at that pinched tire and it bothers me.Marty (in Mississippi)
