    I looked the other day on here to see if anyone had a good way to clean the oil level window. Didn't see much other than pulling the cover. I didn't want to do that, so it was time to put my feeble mind to work. I drained my oil. Went to the handy dandy Ace hardware store, and go 2 foot of small engine fuel line that fit snug on the spray tube of my carb cleaner. I attached a length of wire to the tube, cut the length down, and taped the tube onto the spout. (just for safety, because the tubing fit snug) I then fed i down and into where the window is. Gave it a couple of squirts, and wow, it was crystal clear. Then i flushed about half a quart of trans. fluid i had down to wash it out. It evaporates fast anyway. I let it sit for an hour and a half, and the refilled with oil. Clean and easy. Maybe it will help someone out there.

          And I JUST changed my oil! Anyway I'll give this a shop next go around. Thanks for the tip.

            TC: wasn't really thinking of a tech tip. Didn't take any pics. It probably won't get that dirty for another 30 years.

              great idea but WTF, I can't see mine anyway because the sidecar gets in the way.
              I did use a mirror on a stick but people look at you oddly when you do that.
              Then I built a T-shaped dipstick to use when the engine is stopped.

                That's a really good idea, but when I changed my engine and moved the clutch cover over to the new one, since it came without a clutch or the cover I went ahead and cleaned the window before I put the cover back on. It's still clean (on the inside at least, and I can clean the outside just fine with a rag) at this point, but I'll remember this technique.
