If your just looking for functionality autozone has some.

    http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=209292_0_0_

If your looking for something to replace your fuel cut off I can't help you there. The factory ones are probably going to be as good as your going to get. You can get a rebuild kit for both for around $40 if yours are leaking.

Seriously why fart around with other petcocks? Just fix the ones you have. Kits are relatively cheap and the valves do what they are expected too.

          Hi Lee,
if you fix what you got you know they're gonna fit.
Pingels cost a fortune but they do work and they also make adapter plates to fit most bikes.

There are probably plenty of unused octy's from XJs out there but that turns the needed fuel line into maybe 4 feet

Low cost, simple insurance. I stick the Autozone shutoff (for a lawn mower) in each line and they work great. My petcocks work well but they are notorious so why worry. I have also removed the Octy.

No they don't...depends on the maker of the kit. BTDT. I found problems with the K&L kit...the vacuum plunger is 2mm shorter than the OEM plunger. They pissed gas even without vacuum applied.

Kinda sounds like the same failing if an unsuspecting person used K&L jets!............you'll NEVER get your scoot to run correctly..........

                      An alternative

If you want to use a direct replacement for your vacuum taps, you could try this:

                      http://www.mikesxs.net/product/20-0019.html

It should fit right up. A little expensive, but no worries and no hassles with adapters, etc.

On the other hand, I rebuilt my vacuum-operated valves a few years ago and have had no problems with them.

Those will only work for standards, as the 650 petcock is the same as the left side 1100 standard petcock, and the one on the right side will work backwards, for the specials you will still need to deal with some other type of petcock and an adapter. That said, the special petcock is pretty much a normal petcock anyways once you get rid of the octy.

Sorry Davinci but the signature says 79SF. The question was petcock related so I posted about the kits. There are no vacuum plungers on a 79SF type petcock. So yes the kits will work.
The octy has one and yes that can be a problem, from what I hear. My octy works fine with the K+L kit I got from georgefix. Other have not been so lucky.
Glad to hear you have it working now Lee. Personally I like and keep the Octy but as many here have posted a hate for the thing, I know it is personal preference. To me it is one more thing to help keep gas out of my oil which could cost me a motor one day. Half the time I can not remember what day it is never mind turning the petcocks off and on. Not much is more embarrasing than having your ride run out of fuel in the middle of a busy intersection just because I forgot to turn the petcocks on .
That said when I was young and Noah was building his ark, I had petcocks that I had to manually turn on and off. More than once I had the damn thing flooded to the point I had to tow it with a car to get it running. Guess my memory has never been all that good. Luckily back then it was a 2 stroke and I did not lose a motor. I also never had the info available to me in this era, like this site, that could have helped a young gun out.

If you just want the petcock disc try this Kawasaki part. It and the special disc are the same in aftermarket kits. Half the price from Kawa than Yam.

11009-1188 . That's the way I'm going next time. If you do then give a feedback.

                              Terry

BTW, I got the XJ kit from PartsnMore and on the octy plunger had to swap my old o-ring over to make it work and it did.
