WOW!!! is all I got to say. As some may know I have rebuilt my carbs 5 time and tuned and tuned and tuned Still had poping through exaust, better, but still there So, I replaced the OEM fuse box and removed 10 PO splices, went for my 1st test ride today, WOW, all this time the gremlins I "thought" were in the carbs, were in the elec system Absoluty NO poping, "0" Nadaa Runs like a new bike No drop in idle speed at long lights No sputter at take off To anyone with the OEM fuseBox GET RID OF IT!!!

Glad to hear it's performing good for you!......Rule of thumb is diagnosing electrical, primary or secondary ignition BEFORE condemming fuel system. Kinda old school, but so are these scoots and applies in the pre mid eighties automotive world also.

Who-da thought, wireing that is only 32 years old and was the weakest link when it was new and had been "FIXED" by the PO Don't know why I didn't fix it the 3rd time I blamed the carbs Oh well, I am a pro at R/I carbs now

Nice, now your spark plugs probably won't foul anymore since the coils are now getting their proper voltage.

I have learned that this is the first thing I do to any XS11 I work on. In the time I have been reading this board, I have seen A BUNCH of what was believed to be fuel and or coil problems fixed by replacing the fuse block, followed closely, if not tied with, repairing the pick-up coil wires.

I fought "carb &backfire issues" for a year. Turned out to be the pick up wire problem.

I am happy you finally fixed it and so happy I am an original owner. No Splices no dices no bent carb parts. At least when I deal with a problem its not a barn yard modification. Still I am glad for you.

Yeah I found that my main ground wire from battery to frame was nearly broken completely loose so it may explain my power issues. And likely it would cause the low power to coil problem as a bad ground is almost worse than anything else cause if the positive wont get through it's an easier track to follow but a bad common ground loop can cause issues anywhere.

Great to have all that weight off your back, I also know what it feels like. My father, years ago, said that 99% of carb problems can be found in the ignition. Sometimes my brain over rides this wisdom and I too have chased those elusive gremlins about only to drive my palm into my forehead, again. Ride and enjoy the freedom!

hey Dragon, its 10 bucks, the best 10 bucks I have ever spent I know your bike runs good and you know the history, but these fuse boxes were just OK when new, and everything wears out, trust me on this one and I will bet you will notice "Some" improvements

See... I don't have any of those problems. But now I think I have to get a new fuse block. Everyones doing it.....
