since xs650 & xs750 's around 77-79 use the same Mikuni carbs, anyone ever tried mixing & matching, or, for parts? Just wondering about compatibility & small parts interchanging.

Well, I suppose that's good advice in general, but I rebuild my carbs in '04 with '79 XS750 kits, so I have XS750 main jet needles, jets, etc. Don't ask me the needle numbers, i haven't looked at em in a few years, but they work fine.Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!

'77 650 Carb Swap
My '77 XS650D has BS38 carbs so I wouldn't imagine too many parts will swap, but I have entertained the idea of using the BS38 carbs on an Eleven1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)
Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.
