since xs650 & xs750 's around 77-79 use the same Mikuni carbs, anyone ever tried mixing & matching, or, for parts? Just wondering about compatibility & small parts interchanging.

BTDT! Don't think about it any further. It looks good, but doesn't work. Floats, slides, etc., OK, but I recommend you go no further.

Well, I suppose that's good advice in general, but I rebuild my carbs in '04 with '79 XS750 kits, so I have XS750 main jet needles, jets, etc. Don't ask me the needle numbers, i haven't looked at em in a few years, but they work fine.

if your just wanting to replace misc parts and want to know if they can be swapped, same from one carb as the one your putting them into, just look up the fiche for part numbers, if same, why not.

I should have been more specific. DON'T SWAP CARBURETOR BODIES! Needles, gaskets, and the like are OK.

            '77 650 Carb Swap

My '77 XS650D has BS38 carbs so I wouldn't imagine too many parts will swap, but I have entertained the idea of using the BS38 carbs on an Eleven
1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
            1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
            1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
            1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
            1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

You may do that if you wish to introduce a parts availability problem, etc.
