    +1

+1 on the shifting these bikes, people can hear me shift and down shift 10 cars away. I really dont thing the trannys were all that bad, just a bunch of Honda converts started buying them back in the day, and they shifted them like a girly man. My 1966 GTO had a Borg Warner T10 tranny in it, the muncies's that were in most cars of the day shifted like a Honda, even your wife could shift it The T10 was like an XS, if you shifted like you ment it, you couldn't kill the tranny, if not, a rebuild is in your future

Hence the term "rock crusher"................Owned, built and raced a 64Goat with 70 Judge engine.......with the girly muncie and Mr.Gasket V-Gate, Hurst LineLock, etc. The trannies in the XS's actually shift smooth........30yrs. of practice DOES help a bit...........BTW, still have the Lakewood traction bars for GM's trailing-arm suspension in a box for the past thirty years if anyone has a use........

        Rock crusher M22

Yea, the M22 rock crusher tried to be a T10 The muncies are the Honda of the shifting world The XS11 just needs to be shifted like you mean it, like a T10, I shifted mine to 11 sec quarter miles wihtout useing the clutch, exploded a rock crusher doing the same thing, thats how I ended up with the T10

Other thing to keep in mind with engine swaps is your bikes title. Depending on the state you may need to change your title to show the different vin of the engine as well.

            Hi Marty,
Totally agree. While it is a known weak spot . I have to do mine this winter and must take at least part of the blame myself. Who ever put the first 60,000 miles on Addie should share some of the blame too

You can really hear how loud these things are when you shift up and down in this video taken by Cruiser last summer at the lost in Minnesota Rally.

Yeah, It was 115º when Tod and I left Tulsa 3 days before, the thermometer on my windshield was reading a little over 120º when we headed east to Joplin. Stifling.

Just heard from my son in Montana and it's -26º and falling there.

                              Glad I'm here!

I would NOT install an engine not knowing if second gear was good or bad. I have been in the original posters shoes. I bought an 1100 with wasted multiple gears and forks- all clacked on the centerstand. Got the motor out and apart. It was interesting to see all those worn dogs- front AND back and the pinions with their grooved swath of destruction. Honestly I would not have been able to get it back together correctly if I had had all new countershaft parts so I waited and found a bike with no tranny problems.

One could offer to pay another area member a DECENT amount to do an engine. Take it out and drop it off at a willing members home. If a shop gets $1300 plus in labor alone to do it on the bench than a few hundred bucks to an XS11 member for their work may be fair?
