    I may take you up on that... I've used some strange contraptions in my days of engine building. It looks pretty straight forward. I would think following the lifter down with it as you rotate the motor to keep it aligned would be the ticket. Then once its located bolt it down. then rotate motor in opposite direction. Good magnet and something thin yet strong to pop shim off.

    I'm hoping the numbers are still on the shims. I've heard its hit and miss. I'll make sure there's a fresh battery in the dial calipers

    I'm really hoping I just get to take the cover off run the feeler gauge around and reseal.... that would kick ass

        dismantling soon

        Gonna be taking the fairing and such off "old man" sunday to get it ready for work... not too excited about doing it. but i can't get to the valves without taking it apart

        The Wife's gonna be missing some towels so i can kid, dog, and clumsy friend proof the fairing and tank while they're off.

        I'll post pictures during the process. This will be my first time this deep in this bike since I was a young kid handing Dad tools. oughta be interesting
