  • 1190 kit

    i installed the wiesco 1190 kit and wondered where i should start with my jets. it's a 11sf. i live at 580 feet above sea level. thanks in advance.

    Start at the stock jet sizes and check plugs frequently and adjust as needed.

      +1 If everything else stock? If so I would starts with stock jets. You have increased the volume bt 9.25% so you will move more air, but you also move more air as the rpm increses on the stock bore and the carb jets handle that fine with the stock exaust / timming etc. then see how it runs and adj as /if needed

        i have pod filters and 4 into 1 pipe. also have a set of 1980 carbs i can use if they are better. thanks

          In that case, I would ask Phil and others, Phil has made a chart (couldn't find a link) that he has said works well for bikes with mods as far as jets go

            Stick with the early carbs if running a non-stock combo as they're easier to adjust...

                Hey Lucky,

                In the MISC forum is the Jetting Guide for mods, and when combination of mods there is a little simple math to do...but again these are just guides/starting points to try, but still need to monitor your plugs.

                I've done the smaller 1179 kit, but also have 4-1 pipes and Indy filters, with later 81 carbs, I'm running 117.5 mains across all. My dyno run after breakin showed that I could have possibly put in 1 more size to 120's, but I've got good color and performance to redline, so I haven't tried the larger size. I had been running the 42.5 pilots because of one that was corroded/frozen in place 10 years ago, and I didn't have the tools or confidence to attempt to remove it. This last year I took a small drill and then easy out to it and was able to get it out, so I put in the 45's that I had ordered 10 years ago!

                I ran OEM jets (110's) for 9 years with the 4-1 pipes alone with stock airbox, but after the big bore and Indy Pods I didn't want to take any chance of burning a hole in my new pistons, so I followed the jetting guide! YMMV!
