It is true that the XS11s speed and 1/4 mile times have been taken away from her as has also happened for all others to take those crowns in years gone by. The XS11 however did present many other firsts that can not be taken away from the bike. She was the first over 1 liter motorcycle out of Japan, the first production motorcycle to do the 1/4 mile under 11 seconds and she also made use of many first in use technology features in her production year.
For me the bike is iconic in many ways.

        Xs1100

While I will agree with the fact that the XS1100 was out done in the qrt mile shortly after its intro, by honda:

Nice looking bike! Held the throne a few years till Yamaha took it back:

        My V Max

The XS1100's claim to fame was more rooted in it did everything well for Joe biker in its day, not a cafe racer, not a track racer, just a great bike with great power and looks for a bike "in it's day"

Top qtr mile times are tossed around from one MFG to anouther today, and always will be, thats what makes it great. The 1968 Z28 was almost useless on the street (I know, I owned one), but its fame on the track made people buy them, and makes them worth 100k + today It did one thing right, but not what Joe Q needed, the XS1100 did everything right for Joe Q. "in it's day" Thus, it out sold Honda's and all others "in it's day"

My bad 11.73 sec but in any case still the first production bike to do so.
