I was getting ready to order some fork seals when I realized, a lot of sellers have no idea what they are doing, I need to know what the actuall size of the seal is, I'm getting conflicting desriptions, stating for the same bike. I know they are different between standard and special and maybe even midnight Special, But sellers are selling several different sizes for the same model. I have a 79XS1100SF (3H3) what is the size 37mm....39mm x?x? Thanks! Rich

all the smaller ones I've seen advertised were for standards....lol I want the actuall dimensions if anyone has them, so I'm sure to get the right ones, I know some of you may say buy this guys or that guys, I'm just ordering via the least expensive, not buying the best of everything on this build.
EDIT; I follow the link(should have done that first) are these then the right dim for the 79SF 37mm x 48mm x 12.5mm ?81 XS1100H

It seems there is room for the difference in depth though. However, I do trust Georgefix.Greg

seals
I went to the stealership near where I live and got my seal from them for the 79 special forks I put on my standard and they are 37mm, then I asked if my 81 standard forks are the same and he said yes they are after looking them up and they only cost me $9.00 and no shipping charges either.

DC, don't know what dealer person was lookin at, but OEM fork seals are NA for the Specials. Fork seals OEM are still available for the Standard.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

My local dealer stocks/sells aftermarket parts in place of those 'NLA parts' as the manager is into vintage bikes. Now, this guy is honest and tells you it's aftermarket, but not all dealers may do that. If it doesn't come in Yamaha packaging, it's probably aftermarket....Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two
