    Everytime I go for a ride, I get a slight splatter on top of the left side muffler behind the front peg It is not much, I checked the main crank seal, shaft boot, both OK, and the overflow batt line is down past there and through the frame loop Any guesses

    What is it that your getting on there? The material that the splatter consists of is key in where to look for the source. Do you need depends?

    I'd look at the cam chain tensioner, it's a common leak point on these bikes, and it could cause splatter back to that area if the flow went just right. Also check the valve cover for leaks, that's another possible source of leakage as long as you have ruled out the rider as the source.

          Realy, that is what is so puzzeling, there is not a drop of oil anywhere on my motor Not even under around the oil filter or anywhere on the crank case. New valve cover gasket with no leaking, the old one was fine also, just replaced last month when I did a valve adj, cam ten is as dry as Greg county in Texas. Just a gremlin I guess

              Any chance that it may be middle drive. Could be the vent tube for that. Another idea would be coming from the rubber boot drain on the drive shaft, oil from rear seal on middle drive could leak it there. JAT

                rubber boot drain on the drive shaft? I am not sure where that is? Didn't know there was one, will look for it as that could be the cause

                  Ahh, that's a good call from them, I forgot about that. There is a hole in the rubber boot between the middle drive and the swing arm, which is USUALLY on the bottom if it's installed correctly which will allow any leakage from the middle drive (or liquefied grease from the drive shaft area) to drip out onto the ground, but it can fly up onto the exhaust there when your riding. Check the bottom of the rubber boot to see if it's oily/greasy to get some idea if it might be coming from there.

                    Is there any news on the splatter front? Any time there is an unexplained marking oil wise on these bikes I get very interested

                          Shaft boot

                          For real, I think my shaft boot leaks a little grease, (not hypod oil, as that is never low) I am happy about that, I would rather have a little extra comming out of my shaft, then uncontrolled leaking from my rear end at my age

                            Cool to hear you did not have a serious issue happening. The rear end leakage is something I will leave alone...lol
