Looks like the Suzuki carbs already had the vacuum advance port.

on the suzuki carbs the outlet on number 2 carb
is for a vac petcock, it doesnt work the same way
as it does on the mikuni carbs, the vac adv on the
      mikuni carbs uses ported vaccuum.

I've ridden behind a 79F with ZRX carbs and I'll tell you that bike was quick. We were riding mountain roads and sweepers. I remember Chris (Yamahansolo) was having some difficulty tuning them though. Good mod for some extra power.

A KZ1000 sits next to the XS in my garage. The carb spacing is drastically different and unless you modified the spacing, I would be shocked if this is true. The KZ had straight intake boots which made for a large space between the center pair of carbs to compensate for the cam chain area. The old VM and BS equipped Suki's had the same spacing as the KZ.

I just had a look at a KZ1000 Police. The carburetors were Mikunis that look like what's on the Yamaha. I suppose you could use them if you used the XS space bar and linkages. This of coarse, after the supply of XS1100 carbs completely dries up.
