Do you guys think using kerker headers to a supertrapp muffler would work for our bikes? Ive been reading on here a lot about back pressure and performance, and i understand i will lose a little in the low and mid range but i was thinking with the supertrapp i could tune it easier to have more back pressure with the internal discs and then jet accordingly.

here is the muffler - http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPERTRAPP-4...item3cbd4c4e82

They should work fine even if the OD/ID of the connection points are different, you can adapt those. And you're right, the SuperTrapp gives you more latitude for tuning your system. Although, as long as you're not running pods and straight pipes, getting the right combination of jets shouldn't be that hard.
On my G I'm running a 4X1 Kerker with a drilled airbox and I'm using the stock jetting, and it runs perfectly fine....!!
The PO told me it was rejetted when they put in the Kerker but I discovered it wasn't. It was running good so I left well enough alone.

I have an RC Engineering 4 into 1 exhaust on my bike. It came with nothing in the muffler ($45 on Ebay). I have SuperTrapp baffle in it. Started with 20 discs and now down to 8 discs.

        Hey Pat,
My J came with the RC Engineering exhaust and with the baffles. They sound really nice too. And once again, when I got into the carbs, they were jetted to stock specs... go figure.

Apology for the short thread hijack,

Pat, Cobia, could you post a few photos of your pipes/headers. I was told a long time ago that my pipes that I had gotten from JCWhitney in the early/mid 80's were RC Engineering. Then a few years later some other folks told me that they were MAC! They had NO LABELS on them when I got them. I'm sure JCW contracted with one of the exhaust manufacturers to make the pipes for them. I had actually NOT heard of RC Engineering. I think I had heard of MAC a few years later. I'll post a few different views here so that perhaps you can compare them to yours and help me to confirm whether mine are really RC or MAC?? Thanks in Advance.

Cobia, I actually have been running pods with stock exhaust with no rejetting - runs great but i bet ill have to re jet finally if i go with the exaust swap. Pat - good to know its working for you - i'll try out with 8 disks to start with. Is yours pretty loud with 8 in there?

It's luod enough that I feel bad when I fire it up at midnight (or 4 am) to go to work. I don't like loud pipes at times like that. The tone is good though.

                    Better late than never ???

                    TC,
I finally got around to digging my RC Engineering exhausts out to get them ready to install on the J . I found no marks on the pipes, only a badge on the muffler. Here are the pics:

                    [IMG][/IMG]

                    And finally painted:

                    [IMG][/IMG]

You can kind of see the emblem in this picture:

                    Hope that helps.

That looks quite similar to what's on my SG. The main difference being the four header pipes are not welded to the collector.

It then may be a Jardine (good) or a Mac (not so much) because the Kerker on my G is welded. But I have a SS Jardine 4 x 2 turnout that's not welded.
I also saw a NOS 4 x 1 Jardine on ebay that was not welded either.
Either way it's better than the alternatives..... some franken exhaust or a very overpriced new one.
I was looking at some RC Engineering exhausts for FZ1's that almost looked as if they could be 'coerced' into fitting our XS's.
