I would pull the handle bar control apart and clean it all and resolder the wire connections, and then pack it with dielectric grease to keep any water away from the connections.

I had this exact problem -- about half the time I would push it, it would crank. The rest of the time, nothing. No click, no nothing.

Issue with mine ended up being a bad cell in my battery. I know, it doesn't make sense. I replaced the battery a month later (after testing it and seeing it drop from 12.6v to 10.2v when I turned the key on) and nothing else and have never had the problem again.

It's probably the switch, but worth a check

Whats weird is seems the lower my battery gets the worse it gets so maybe the bad battery cell thoery is true? Hahaha But Im gonna try opening that handle bar control up and see what I can find. Check for any loose or disconnected wires and put some of that grease in there like Nate suggested. Ya it dont click or do NOTHING whenever I push the button most times. IM GONNA GET STUCK SOME WHERE ONE OF THESE DAYS!!!!!

Yeah, it's never a bad idea to clean that switch, mine was pretty corroded inside. I luckily didn't have to re-solder anything, but I cleaned the contacts and coated everything in dialectric grease.

I did end up getting stuck at a gas station, and it sucks . I roll-started it, but it was pretty frustrating.

It sounds like the problem is most likely the start button. Open it up and give things a good cleaning in there. The dielectric grease is a good thing, but if you don't have it, you will be fine without it.

                        Won't Start with button???

Something else you might try, after doing all the above, is get under the tank, and find the connector that the right hand controls plug into. Take is apart, CLEAN all the connections, and put it back together. I had to take the tank off to get to the connector. Worked for me.

Well I was thinking cause of the cold it might be the solenoid? Can that actually go out intermittently?

It could, but you should be able to see a dimming of the dash lights as you press the start button if that happens. If you press the start button and NOTHING happens, then it's most likely in the start button circuit itself.

The same symptom for me was resolved by replaceing the starter relay, a.k.a. solenoid.
I used an automotive (Ford 7.3L diesel) glow plug relay, but any starter/high current relay that fits physically will work.
Checking and cleaning the button first can't hurt however.

If you have a modicum of electrical savvy you can quickly test for a signal from the start button at the relay with a standard 12V test light to determine if the relay is or is not being "told" to complete the circuit to the starter...one of the two small wires should have 12 volts on it with the key on and the other should have ground when you press the start button. (connect the test light alligator clip to the positive battery terminal to test for ground)
                              Hope this helps.
