        I thought American Standards with the exception of the 81 were 5.3 gal. and all the Specials were 3.8 gal.

          They are. What is on that chart is in British(Imperial) Gallons.

          5.3 = 6.36gals
          4.4 = 5.28gals
          3.3 = 3.96gals

                The american H model (aka venturer) has a bigger tank than the american E, F, or G standards. It is about a US gallon more.

                      Venturer Fuel tank appearance

                      Guys...does the tank have the fuel gage mounted in the side of the tank?
                      Want to know how I can tell a 6 gal tank from others w/o actually comparing
                      the size in person.

                        The only way to do that is to look closely at the knee indent in the side of the tank. On the 'standard', the forward edge of the indent is very rounded, the larger Venturer has this line 'straighter'. Once you realize this, it's fairly obvious....

                            Check out the angle between the filler cap and the front of the tank.

                            This is the smaller standard tank...

                            This is the larger standard tank...quite a hump
