      XS650 vs XS1100

      The forks on my XS650 Special are 75 cm long. My XS1100 Special has 78 cm long forks. The distance from the axle to the brake coupling is approximately 52 cm on my XS650 and the same measurement is 55 cm on my XS1100.

      Close enough? You decide.

        I see here that they come in 20" and 24 1/2", not sure what would best fit a 79SF I would love to hear from anyone that "has used them" on an XS1100 as to what size and pro's / con's. I don't see how they wouldn't fit and they are the cheapest I have found anywhere, thinking about getting some if I get good feedback from an owner

          Because the length has to be pretty much exact, not just around the right length. The SS lines are a LOT stiffer than the rubber and fabric ones so you don't have the flexibility they do. I don't know that the angles of the banjos for the 650 are the same as the 1100 either and that can also be an issue. IIRC the 650 braking system is like the standards, not the specials, but I'm not sure if that matters or not, as I don't know if the hoses hook up differently on the specials and the standards, I know a lot of the other stuff about the front brakes is different though. Does someone who has dealt with the lines on both know enough to answer that question?

            I have purchased two sets from Goasguard off Ebay. The first used straight fittings, the second set I asked for 15 degree and better offsets. I sent him my old lines to be sure he a good templete to follow. The second set worked well.

              Mike's claims the ends rotate 360 deg. so the right size should be all that matters

                I've used a SS upper line from Mikes, the ends do rotate and the plastic coating crumbles off after about a year .

                        The line works fine, I just peeled the cracked coating off and now I have true SS line, no coating. Looks great now.

                          Wanted to bring this to the forefront, these things are pretty inexpensive, and they are running a sale right now where you get the rear line free if you buy fronts. They don't have our rears listed, but they can make them, they are just a single straight line, just need to measure the angle of the connectors.
