    Ok

OK, call me stupid The cap never fell off in the tank like I thought, what I heard was the low fuel elec. socket ratteling againest the tank By the way, when I hooked it back up I checked the light before I filled and it doesn't come on anymore Worked fine before I removerd and repainted the tank. I took off the sender before painting, so I don't get it

I could be wrong, but I think that the low fuel light circuit works by having a good ground to the tank. If you painted the tank and then reinstalled the unit, if it doesn't have a good ground (because of the paint) then you might not complete the circuit and thus no more light.
You should be able to check continuity thru the circuit with a meter.

Then again if I am wrong about the ground thing, then the unit might have been 'damaged' prior to reinstall.

I found a thread that might be useful. http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...low+fuel+light

Does anyone sell the petcock fuel filter for the Special anymore? When I got my bike, someone had taken them off and put in-line lawn mower filters on it instead.

That aint just the filter tower that is marked #3 on that fiche. That is the whole body of the petcock. You do see that, right. Or am I on the wrong page here?

The link is just for the net filter, not the whole petcock. I have never seen a whole petcock for just 16 bucks. Not new, anyway.

If you are looking at OEM's link you will see the "net" part of the filter is only the small part of the whole petcock in the fiche. It is the main body part and has all the other parts as the spring, o-rings, diverter etc as parts of the whole. From Yamaha you can not buy this filter tower net part on it's own.

OEM. The whole assembly is part #1 on that list. The main body of the "whole assembly is part #3. There is a huge } sign between the smaller parts and the whole part. Look again.

Your right Ras, it is more then just the net filter. I will blame mistake on viewing the website on my phone But for 16 bucks, I will still buy it to finally get these stupid filters for the bike
