Hey guys I have been using this great site for about year now getting my SH into better shape. Couldn't have done half of it without all of the info on this site. The bike was in pretty good condition when I got it except that the mufflers were rotted out. So I tried the JC Whimpy slipons, and to say the least was not impressed. So I decieded to go with the fat boy mufflers as my headers are in great condition. I just got some in off of ebay that were listed as fat boy mufflers but i am not sure about that. The mufflers have a cross over pipe on them. On the one muffler the cross over is far enough away from the muffler body that it will easily be discarded when fitted to the bike. However on the other the crossover is actually butted up against the housing of the muffler body, so there would be no way to cut it off. My question is did I not get the right pipes or is this normal. And even if I did get the wrong pipes is there anyway that i could somhow close off the opening to the one crossover. When mounted it will be on the inside bottom of the pipe at approx. 45 degrees toward the center of the bike, almost completly out of sight. Thanks for the help in advance. This site is has allready helped tons.
