      A black box. Steve, could you give me a hint on about where this magical box may reside? I'm thinking under the tank but b-4 I go pulling everything apart again I thought I would ask.

        Wish I could tell you, but that's one model I'm not that familar with. Like I said, there's zero info in the FSM about it other than what's on the wiring diagram...

          Thanks Steve,
          I found it behind the locked left hand side cover. I unpluged it and started the beast and the oil light went off. What does this box do anyhow and what is it called?

            Is Now #2G2-84708-01-00, Checker Lamp Ass'y. or Lamp relay switch.

            I found one on Ebay and put an offer on it.

            Hope this works.....I'm having withdrawals already.....hands are shaken...need to ride.

              All that gizmo does is monitor the tail/brake light and turn on the oil light if either is burned out. Yamaha must not have been too impressed with it, as it only appeared on the SF....
