Anybody know if berrymans will affect the finish on a ms carb? I know your not all huge fans but its how I clean em on other carbs and works great for me. Just don't want to hurt the finish on em.

I know a lot of you aren't fans of berrymans on this site. I was working on my ms carbs and didn't want to hurt the finish so I didn't use it this time. Had some trouble with the float bowls on 2 carbs so I decided to fill the bowl with some berrymans to see if that would help. The pic says it all, compresed air and carb spray on two of em and the clean oneshad the berrymans in them. Imagin what could be inside your carbs. . . This little experiment has reaffirmed my belief in a carb dip, well worth the extra 5 min per carb to pull the butterfly shaft seals.

carb cleaning
Well I've done seven sets of carbs now, I've made all the mistakes looking for the easy clean. All I will use now is a big ultra sonic machine, hot water and palmolive dish soap and a tooth brush, followed by canned spray carb cleaner. TLC may not be the quickest but always works best. However I completly strip the carb bodies.mack

I have a XS650 Heritage Special. It had black carbs. The black did not stand up to carb cleaner. I don't remember what took the finish off, but I'm sure any carb cleaner would do it.Marty (in Mississippi)

I'm told that stuff works good in an old crock pot.Try this. It works quite well and won't harm finishes or seals.
