Well I got my gasket and return spring today but for the life of me I don't know how to place the spring so it bounces back to take the next gear down. I don't suppose anyone has a clear pic showing the placement of the spring??

It is shown pretty clear in post #3 of this thread. The spring goes over the lever shaft and make sure that the ends of the spring are on each side of the metal post.Last edited by bikerphil; 08-30-2011, 06:04 PM.2H7 (79) owned since '89

Spread the legs on the spring apart, then install over shaft. While your there checking movement of things, place in SECOND gear and check pawl alignment index marks. They should and need to line up.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.
