  • 80/81 carbs

Can someone with a spare set of these carbs post a picture showing the carb to carb brackets set up. My computer won't down load the parts picture and this is a different set up from my 79 carbs. Not sure if I'm missing something or not.

Mack, no pics but I can describe what's supposed to be there AFAIK...

You should have the lower angle metal bracket the same as the '78-79 carbs, but instead of the 'tie' pieces between the diaphram covers like the early carbs, the '80-81 have another full-length bracket below the diaphram covers on the filter side. The only piece(s) that mounts to the diaphram cover(s) is the throttle cable bracket (which only attaches to one carb, not two like the early bit) and the octy if so equipped...

I have some pics to go with the description, at least one carb body worth that show the brackets.

Here is the pic of the upper racket Steve mentioned, this is on the inlet side of the carbs....

And here is a couple with the lower bracket in it....

      Hope those help you out.

        Thanx

Thanx, it was a year ago I stripped the bike down and had it all over my shop. I knew some carb parts were on the radial arm saw but couldn't find them. A search of shop followed by an interogation of my youngest, reveiled that the rusty metal rails had been used in a school bridge building project and spent most of the winter and all of this year in the sand pit behind our house. The bridge was an "A", my mood was an "F". Got em back though so no harm done. Short discussion about removing things from the shop (including tools) ensued.

Mack, I just had to laugh at your wayward parts... I wish I had a nickel for every time I had that discussion with my kids (all gone now, woo hoo!) You were very lucky to get them back!

Ha! Get him an erector set - remember those? They had parts just like carb rails!
