Impressive detail in that tech tip! Interesting how they remove the emulsion tube. Remove the main jet, take the washer off and replace the main jet, press the main jet and emulsion tube down and out with a screwdriver handle... no dowel needed!'79 XS11 F

Actually, Kawasaki made 100cc police bikes for a few years as part of their "equal opportunity for very tiny cops" program.

It was suggested on another forum that the Yamaha carb cleaner works great in a crock pot. Source the crock pot from your local thrift store. Supposedly, that cleaner is easy on the butterfly seals.Marty (in Mississippi)

Is this the same carb that the 79xs1100 uses? Getting ready to pull mine out tomorrow. Took off seat, gas tank and air filter today.

The XS also uses the Mikuni BS CV carbs. There is a couple subtle differences between the stock carbs on a 79 XS11 and the ones in that tutorial. Primairly the choke linkage is not cable operated on the XS, so there is a very small metal ball and spring that locks into the detent in the choke lever. They live behind choke lever in carbs 1 and 4, (the one behind four is an extra replacement I think as there are no detents in the choke lever at that end for the ball to lock into.).
Also, your carbs may still have the stock brass floats. The rubber plug shown over the pilot jet is actually an aluminum screw in your carbs.
Personally, I would not use the main jet to push the emulsion tube out with. In alot of the carbs I have worked on, the force required to get that emulsiont ube out when they are dirty could mess up the threads on the main jet or the emulsion tube using that method. I use a wooden dowel to push the emulsion tube out, it is softer than the brass.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

You wouldnt be able to move the emulsion tube much with the main jet in like that. Maybe 3/16" before it would hit the locator pin down in the carb body.Nathan
