so im still stuck on why #2 cylinder not getting warm cleaned the carbs 3 times and still nothing its getting fuel to the plug and she has got compression. what could be my problem?

I'd be looking at the coil, the wiring to the coil and the spark plug wire. -
The wiring TO the coil shouldn't make a difference. I cant remember if anyone told you this before but have you tested the resistance in that coil or the same in the plug cap?
Also, pickup coil wire problems can be deceptive sometimes.Greg

Swap wires between 2&3, see if problem moves to 3.If so the coil,wire,cap etc. If 2 stays cold then carb or plug. Am Assuming you have compression on 2.79SF

Did you remove the spark plug cap and cut the wire some?You could have some corrosion.1980 XS1100 SG

With the wasted spark system these bikes employ, if the problem is in the coil, it is in both 2 and 3. So it has to be in the plug, the wire, or the cap.
I would do as suggested and swap plug wires between 2 and 3 and see if it moves, then swap plug caps and see if it moves.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Plug cap problems
Check the plug caps. On the XJ1100 the #2 & #3 caps are long. Pull from plug and look inside, there is a screw. Unscrew the screw and a resistor will fall out with a washer and small spring, do this over some paper to catch the small parts. My #3 resistor was awash with carbon and OPEN
. I replaced the resistor with 1/8" diameter brass welding rod cut to the same length. Problem cured. I later did the same thing to the other caps. Use dielectric grease inside to stop corrosion.

i'd also check that plug in that clylinder. i have seen plugs that were a couple weeks old be shot. even tough they look new especially if it is a ngk they will go bad just screwed in the clylinder.switch plug around and see if problem follows the plug if not i'd look at plug wires or shoot some gas in the clylinder and put plug back in and see what happens.79 xs 1100 spec & 80 xs 1100 gComment

figured it out i think....the bike runs beautiful with the baffle in but when its out the bike is barely rideable. the bike has 140 jest so i guess ill ride it with the baffle in.

These bikes do need soem back pressure to run properly, it seems odd it would only effect one cylinder though.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

If a baffle is shot or removed it can cause exhaust interference and it can affect only one cylinders efficiency to expel burned fuel.Skids (Sid Hansen)
