  • middle gear case

Anyone have an exploded view of the middle gear unit. I'm trying to remove the spacer right behind the cover on the left side and can't figure out if I need to pull the bearing etc to get it off.

Curious why you are messing with that shim? Middle drives are still pretty cheap to get.

Ahh, Grasshopper, when the drives are scarce, he who knows how to repair them will be king.
(If I can mix some genres.)
For the record, one gallon paint cans are about 10 thou thick, aluminum beer cans are about 5, except Coors, which is a bit thinner. All, of course, subject to your mike. CZ

            Nope

The one on the LH is pretty banged up. Going to repaint the cover and wanted to remove and paint the shim at the same time to match. Seems to me it should just pop off but I had trouble removing the bolts. When I looked in the holes there was a lot of adhesive binding the threads. Figure this thing is glued on similar to the final drive/ shaft joint, rather than with a gasket. Not sure if I can get it off. May be a rattle can application will be required on that piece.

I think you mean the bearing housing #3 in the posted pic. Dont think its advisable to remove it in place. Again Catbug comes thru and has a manual on this for download at his site if you want to view it.
