  • HELP 82 xj1100 problem

had my tank repainted, bought battery. All was good then... Went to start and heard a "pop" sounded like a fuse. But the 4 fusses in the fuse box are ok. Am I overlooking another fuse? Is there a main fuse? There is no power, turn the key and the displays are dead.

is your positive terminal contacting your frame? ?
    battery has voltage ?
did your starter solenoid let its magic smoke out ?

Yes there is a main fuse that is not located in the fuse panel on the 80 and up models. Not 100% sure on where it is located but it is usually on the left side above the batter in a black rubber case.

http://www.ringler.us/family/mybike.html Nice pdf manual here thanks to a thoughtful fellow member. I found the answer to your question in just a few minutes .
