      These are a lot of great ways to deal with his assumed but not confirmed problem. The focus IMHO should be to confirm the assumption.

        Patience and penetrating oil. It might take days for the stuff to work to free up a stuck engine. Good idea to drain the oil to inspect while waiting. I'd give it a week or so. (Actually I wouldn't because I'm not very patient but I think you should)

          In my experience, I said MY experience, all the penetrating oil in the world isn't going to free seized or rusted stuck rings. I have one that's been soaking for a few years. No joy.
