The PO, Multiple POs, the Mechanics or the lot of em' have been horrible to this bike. Carb idle adjustments that were tightened down so tight that the o rings were almost impossible to remove. Cable holders, rubber materials & more tied down with strips of inner tube instead of being screwed in

Last night I removed the bolts used to fill oil in the middle gear and rear end. The bolt has an allen socket & I couldn't twist it off no matter how I tried. Had to use a pipe on the allen wrench as a breaker bar & I had to push the 3' pipe so far I thought the wrench was going to splinter & finally the bolt broke free & the release was so sharp that the sound hurt my ears & the now free pipe recoiled so hard into my palm so badly it still hurts right now.

That NEVER should have been that tight & well, there's a lot of stuff on this bike I have to make standard & I can't assume the guy did ANY maintenance that was timely or proper. I'm doubtful that anything will come free easily & the bike is rust free, this stuff was just lousy maintenance.

SO happy to get the advice I need here!

    YOU CAN DO IT!!!

My girlfriend Karla got her XJ11 as her first street bike (coming off dirt bikes) and we've dealt with a lot of the issues you have had/will have.

Here's a list of the threads I've started, hopefully some of them will be of use to you! Good luck. We still have work to do (valve adjustment, another carb sync), but she's running pretty darn good now!

It's amazing what some people will do and call it "good enough". The stuck filler caps are a common issue. You actually got lucky with yours that the socket was not already stripped out. Remember to put some anti-sieze on them when you put them back in.

And/or just don't over tighten the darn things. I've never had any trouble getting mine open after the initial time dealing with the PO having taken them as tight as they would go and then another 1/4 turn (you know, teenager tight). Anti seize isn't a bad idea, but in my experience, it's not the threads that are seized anyways, it's the head because of how tight they have been twisted on there. I've though about changing to normal hex head bolts, but since I haven't had trouble with them with ME doing the tightening, it's not a problem anymore. I also tend to use some brake or other cleaner with a nozzle to clean out the hex hole before trying to remove the bolt so I can make sure that I'm getting a good firm grip in there with the hex tool all the way seated, cause if the little cap isn't there any more (almost always the case) dirt gets in there and then your hex wrench doesn't fit all the way in anymore, which contributes to the problem.

            the searches time out

You can't do what you tried which was to search for your posts and save the link - I've even spent too long reading a particular thread after searching and went back to search list and it was expired.
