Pulling the front master cylinder off my '81G and have a question on the front brake light switch. Is it just a friction fit inside the base of the master cylinder ? I don't want to break it trying to pry the assembly out using a flat blade screwdriver. Last master cylinder I rebuilt was on a XS-650 many moons ago.

SHould be the same as my SH, pull the rubber boot back and look at the bottom, 6-o'clock position, you should see a circular hole. Inside that is a tab that sticks down. Push up on that tab with a small screwdriver, and that should let the switch pull out.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Thanks, guys, I ended up cleaning the spooge hole and cycling the piston several times with my thumb and it looks like it's working fine, so I didn't have to disconnect the switch. Reassembling to pressure test and check the calipers next._________________
