So being as my clymer manual is MIA in my messy shop, I want to know what oil to put in the middle and final drives and what is the milliliter volume for each. I don't care what the dipstick reading is because the bike didn't come with one and I'm wanting to change the oil in each anyway. And is there a size of seal that will stop the leak in my middle drive?

I suggest you still use a dip stick to verify the oil level once it's filled. My FD made a nasty mess on my driveway when it "burped" the extra oil out the top. I thought I had added the correct amount, and I didn't bother to verify it... You can download printable, one-time-use dipsticks from the link in my signature, or you can still get the OEM ones from the dealer for about $8-12.1980 XS850SG - Sold
1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).
