If you're trying to do a rake/trail calculation, the 'fork length' is the distance from the centerline of the axle to the top of the fork neck. You should come up with a distance of about 30.5".
If you have leading-axle Special forks, you need to figure the distance between the centerlines of the fork tube and axle and add that figure to your triple tree offset.
The stock rake number is 29.5 degrees, and trail is 5.12". This is the same for all models; while the Special forks are different, the effective geometry is the same.
You want to be careful swapping/mixing parts between the standard and special forks as this will affect your trail number.Last edited by crazy steve; 03-11-2011, 09:11 AM.Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

would that be the tube that's welded into the frame or the tube that's inside it that joins the triple trees together or the tubes that clamp into the 'trees that the fork lowers slide on?
Um, so what are you up to, eh?Fred Hill, S'toon
