    Connector ? observation

I've been replacing some of the connectors in the plastic plugs and the terminals seem grayish in color. The new ones are brass. I took a file to some of the old terminals and it looks like the originals were brass as well.
    Were they brass ?
I'm amazed as to the oxidation. That grayish film had to be causing some considerable resistance.
I would seem a worth while task to replace all of the terminals in the plugs.

Yup, best long-term solution is to replace em. Cleaning will get you a year or two depending on your climate.
Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!

Actually, that greyish coating is oxidized tin. Most small wire connectors are tinned as it's much more resistant to corrosion than bare brass. Make sure you pack those brass ones with grease...

So the gray is not as bad as I thought?
I am packing them in grease.

        Thanks

Correct, the grey isn't as bad as you thought. Its the green that should cause worry.
