I got this battery for my VTR cafe build, but I am really thinking about getting one for the XS1100 as well. Member Fix researched it and has determined that the Shorai battery for the 1100 is 13 lbs lighter than the stock unit. It is lithium iron phosphate, and has no liquid inside at all.
I ordered a 14 ah 210 cca battery for the VTR, since turning the 1000 twin over is really difficult when cold or very warm. I installed it last night and tried it, and results are better than expected. It turns over better with the Shorai than with the old Yuasa lead acid. And only weighs 1.5 lbs! We are always looking for ways to save weight on these old girls, so we thought this might be a way to help everyone out. Check out the shorai site here:

For those that notice, polarity was not an issue for me, since I can mount the battery any direction on this build. The batteries come in either polarity configuration.
