I have been trying to find a speedometer cable for my XJ 1100. Parts n more said they did not have one. Have not head from Mikes. I think they are the same as a xs special or some model but not sure. Anyone know where to get one??

thanks Phil, I was hoping to get just the inner cable or whatever you call it but will get the one you pointed out if I cant find another. I did not lube the other and paid the price. I tried a 650 off a parts bike but it was about two inches short.

If you just need just the inner cable, go to auto parts store "help" section and get a universal cut to length replacement inner cable. It will work just fine, i've done it to XS cables, should also work for the XJ.

Do you mean like a NAPA and they can cut it and bond correct ends on it??

I have an extra xj1100 airbox without the screw on for access to aircleaner side panel if anyone needs it.

Not sure if they are the same or not. I have one for an XS11 Special.

Mike's XS speedo cables won't work. They're all to short and no XS650 has a leading axle. Cross that option off the list.

If you have the Yamaha part number, you may be able to source one from www.yamahasportscenter.com Their prices are as good or better than anybody else.

Maybe Napa, I know Advance and Auto Zone have them. The kit comes with a tool to crimp the square end on after you cut it to the correct length. The square ends are standard fit and will fit your speedo and drive gear.

Yea, napa has them as well. One end is already square, you measure, cut, and install the other end yourself. Done it many times in the past when cars still had speedo cables

                    It should cost about $16.

Yep, you can widen your search, the XJ1100 speedometer cable is the same as the XS1100 Special's (10M-83550-00-00)

NAPA, Autozone, O'Reillys, Advanced Auto, etc. should all have 1/8" diameter speedo cable replacements. There are around $5 to $10 and you simply cut them to length, crimp on the end (using the supplied "tool"), lube and go. Just make sure the inner liner of your cable housing is in good shape, or get the motion pro complete cable instead.

Just replaced the core with an universal speedo cable from Autozone. It worked fine. There was enough cable to do two XS repairs, but unfortunately only one little crimp-on-end. I might be able to reuse the crimped part if the cable breaks again but I would still have to grind the "flats" onto one end of the remaining cable.
                          $9...
The generic Motion Pro speedo cable that I picked up from the local bike shop last time was about 3" longer than the one on my Special. I reused the original speedo cable this time with the new core. Neater..

Yamaha PN 2H7-83550-00-00. The number is superceded but the cable is still available. I had to buy them twice when the speedometer froze and snapped the cable. I believe they are under $25.

Isn't that the cable for the XS1100 Standards ? 'cos NightPilot is looking for one for the XJ1100.
