  • anybody have a simplified wiring diagram?

    Well, here it is folks. My nemesis, the part that'll make or break me. My entire harness was removed by the p.o. I guess he thought he was a barber cause he did a bit of creative trimming. I won't be going back with anything I can get away with leaving off. Anybody have a simplified diagram for a '79?

        I might be using this on a project soon and while I can figure it our on my own why reinvent the wheel. (or wiring diagram )

          There's at least two (and it seems to me that somebody spotted some other errors); one, the headlight connection is wrong, and two, the neutral switch doesn't connect to the pick-up coils...

            Doesn't look like anything that'll catch fire. I'm gonna try it. I don't care about the automatic headlight really. I live in Georgia. Nuff said

              It's not showing a connection to the pickup coils, merely that the neutral wire is in the same loom...

              ..and can you explain why the headlight connection is wrong ??

                It has the ground connected to one filament, not the common; you'll have a low beam that works fine, but on high it's series through both and you'll have a dim light...

                  Okay, I can see how that assumption could be made, but given there is no physical connection to the actual filaments shown at the connector block i thinks it's a bit of a quantam leap to state that the diagram is incorrect. Surely anyone with enough 'nouse' to read a wiring diagram already knows that the ground (earth) wire connects to the common point of the lamp. Even the factory diagrams show no physical connection at that point, are they incorrect too??

                    They're not actually 'errors' in the wiring diagram. The UK bikes lack several features of the US ones (which can makelife simpler). The Haynes manual I have has a picture of the US wiring diagram and the UK one too. Do you want a scan of it?
