    All rotors interchange.

Sounds like the breaks need to be removed and cleaned.

The Special and Standards (all years) rear rotor and caliper are the same with the exception of the 81 Midnight Special. Mind you, the 80 and 81 Specials and the 81 Standard have slotted rotors but will bolt right up. You can use any year solid rotor, front or rear. With the slotted type, it should be a right side front or rear. HTH

        Hi OEM,
as I understand it, the only difference between Std & Spl rear brakes is in the bracketry & spacers and your originals should still be OK?
Besides any XS11 disk fitting, so will the front disks off a post '77 XS650.
As to only a RH slotted disk being usable on the rear, do the slots even care which way they are pointed?

No (I think) but if you were going to switch over all of them (which I would do if switching any) you want them all going the same way, it just looks better. Plus the slotted rotors work better in the wet.
