So, I take out my bike, been sitting a few weeks. Having a nice drive pull in the clutch and feel the rear brake is draging Go strait home (6 miles) Pads gone, rotor groved My question is what parts/years/ STD-VS-Special will fit my 1979 XS 1100 Special. I can find many STD/other year Special parts on ebay, anyone know how many year/models will interchange Thanks for any help

The Special and Standards (all years) rear rotor and caliper are the same with the exception of the 81 Midnight Special. Mind you, the 80 and 81 Specials and the 81 Standard have slotted rotors but will bolt right up. You can use any year solid rotor, front or rear. With the slotted type, it should be a right side front or rear. HTH2H7 (79) owned since '89

as I understand it, the only difference between Std & Spl rear brakes is in the bracketry & spacers and your originals should still be OK?
Besides any XS11 disk fitting, so will the front disks off a post '77 XS650.
As to only a RH slotted disk being usable on the rear, do the slots even care which way they are pointed?Fred Hill, S'toon
