Look around on ebay, there are sets of gauges on there for about 40 that work pretty well.Cy

Those gauges look exactly like the ones I got from ebay. The shop I got them from I think specializes in stuff for wings.Cy

Definitely worth the few extra $.
Oh, it's used in lights as well, as I don't think they have found anything to replace it with yet.Cy

PS, the same one I got is still available, says it's for the GL1000 and 1100 but it works fine for ours, just don't use the adapters.Cy

I bought one of the cheaper mercury units off ebay. The mercury came in a little plastic bottle that you had to pour into the little container at the bottom. It worked ok, but the glass pipes the mercury is in wouldn't stay in place and bowed, the top that holds the mercury in place wouldn't stay put. I thought they were a pain so I switched back to gauges. I'm sure a higher priced mercury unit would be fine, but stay away from the cheap ones.1978 XS1100
