Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas as to why the idle mix screws are brass? With all the issues of idle screw ports being plugged by broken tips, wouldn't 300 series stainless be a better choice? I realize it is tougher to machine, but other than ease of machining and corrosion resistance, is there a reason soft brass is used?

My guess is cost. When your running that many parts through the line at a time, it counts. And brass is sturdy enough to do the job.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Besides the reasons already mentioned, SS will also seize in aluminum much, much easier than brass.Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two
