Sorry. I was talking about that vacuum advance module on the end. I don't have that. I have a bunch of pics on my photobucket account. It's under jhagemeyer84@hotmail.com. I'm not the best photographer.

If you don't have that, they are not XS1100 carbs, but are off of something else. All years of the XS have that fitting, I believe even the XJ's have the fitting, it just goes to an electronic module instead of the vacuum pot under the ignition cover on the engine.

I did wonder. That said, if trying to put that port into those carbs, make sure to do your best to get it in the right place and the same size as the port in the XS11 carbs, I can't see it working right if it's not the same size.

Don't know if you've tackled fork seals on these type of forks before, but you'll possibly need a 19mm bolt to make a damper rod holding tool. Sometimes you'll get lucky and the lower 8mm hex bolt will come out just with an impact gun. An automotive seal puller (hook type) comes in handy too, the seals are a tight press fit. Removing the old ones can be a bear without it.

Nope this will be a first. I might not get this done this weekend. I don't have a bench vice anymore. My father in law moved out of his old house so now I don't have the right tools for the job.

Ok, cool so I found out I don't need a needle valve. I need 2 pilot air screws not needle jets (helps if I open a book). So my bike will be running sooner than I thought. I'm stocked! Also my caliper pistons showed up today. Thanks for the help guys.

I also saw some stainless steal pistons on ebay for $25 a piece. Do I still have to have different pad material in the front in the back like the book says or is that just old technology? When I ran the VIN that's on the title (haven't checked the frame) it said it was an indigo blue 79 1100F. With the center stand I am just looking to get one to work on the bike. I will take it off when I'm not working on the bike. I'm just not comfortable doing what I have to do on the center stand and I can't get the forks off to reubild them on the kick stand. Also that explains why the gas cap looks different than what I was finding for the standard.
So If I were you I'd go to my local Sears and pick up a bike/atv jack...you can pick one up for around 100 bux...but i'm sure it will be used years into the future...u might be able to get a cheaper version through walmart...I just like craftsman...

So I got my fuse box ordered and I got my key set for everything but my tank. Will an xs650 flip cap from Mikes Xs fit my special tank or if I decide to go back to a standard tank? like this http://www.mikesxs.net/products-34.html#20-0650?
