    Trans fix

Hello all, just finished up my Dremel fix this week. I did the bike flip and found that 4 teeth were broken off gears ( primary and secondary )so, an eng. removal was necessary. After making sure I found all the teeth inside the motor, the jobs not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Just take your time and get the tech. tip thats in this forum! I found Yamabond 4 on Ebay.........shipped to me in 3 days. If you are looking for eng. gasket kits....the ones on Ebay don't exist anymore. Bug....my hats off to ya man.....if you can do this job in the time you say....you missed your calling! Good Luck...it's not immpossiable....just pay attention!

I would be willing to guess that the first one is more likely a MNS before I would say this one is a MNS. At least the first one had the swirl wheels like it should.

Nope, both are Midnights. The first one is an '81, and the second is an '80. Swirly wheels were only on the '81 and the XJ. The first one does look like it has been painted and the seat changed, but it has all the tell-tale signs of a MNS. The second one is definitely a nice, clean '80 MNS with a different exhaust.

Yeah, the '81 also has the linked brakes like the XJ (front maaster cylinder controls right front caliper only, rear controls rear and left front calipers). Also the same front calipers as the XJ. The '80 had the same brakes as all the other Specials. Carb float bowls were different on the '81 too.
