  • Wher to get a Color tune?

Hi all, I was wondering if someone might know where I might be able to pick up a colortune in Las Vegas this weekend? (Oct 22 to 25) Any ideas? I live in Canada and my friend will be in the Vegas this weekend.

If you were closer, you could come over to my house and get one out of the garbage.

You don't want it. After fighting with it for a while and quickly realizing why it didn't work for crap (design flaw IMHO) I started to attempt to modify it. Then I got the WBO2. Unless your needles are damaged and/or the holes have been smashed open, you should be able to set them all equally, with maybe an extra 1/4 turn out for the inner two, at 2.5-3.5 turns out and have a beautifully idling motor (with a decent sync of course). I won't say too much more about how I feel about the CT because folks always get all defensive about it. I think there are better ways to spend $60, though.

What problems did you have with it? I am truly curious, because I really like mine, but had to slog some dielectric grease over the window to keep it from arcing OUTSIDE the combustion chamber. Once I did that, it works great!

The thing is, there is a HUGE difference between 2.5 and 3.5 turns on the screws. As little as 1/32 of a turn makes a difference.

Because they put the spark gap way the heck up in the hole, I got tons of misfires which I believe throws off the color you see in the glass. I was only attempting to use it for fine tuning as my bike ran great already. By the time I got the light gold tinge color, the bike seemed okay at first, but I noticed after that it was kind of flat off idle (rich). My suspicions were confirmed when I installed the WBO2 shortly after. CT had led me to be running AFR's in the low 11's. Turned the screws back into somewhere around 2.5 and put it around 13. From what I remember, on my bike, 2.5-3.5 was about low 13's to mid 12's all of which the bike seemed to idle okay with. When I through a new set of cleaned carbs on the bike to test fire for the first time I always set them to 2.75 and have never had a set with genuine Miki parts inside not fire right off on the first few cranks and idle smoothly down to around 800 rpm. But, like I said most others love it. I don't see the need to spend all that time on the idle circuit.
