No the muffs are not stock. all the xs11 muffs looked the same except the special ones were about 6 or so inches shorter in length.

81 Venturer(standard) had the short muffs also. Those look to be maybe a set of Jardine slip-ons.

It looks awesome kindof like mine. I have a kerker and pods. Honestly I would check your carbs and coil and plugs. Maybe even see what jets you have. Before I started tinkering with mine I was getting 40mpg. And I ride very hard!! After messing with the jets I was getting 33 or so. But I could tell a diff in power. Now I have the zrx carbs and they are incredible!!!

Shoe string budget....hmmmmmm.... You could always sell the 'Liquid Metal' golf clubs and buy some goodies for the XS !!!!

No matter what.... fuel milage is controlled mostly by the left side of your brain!!!!

            Clubs

Yeah Tom, I used to sell Liquid Metal Clubs, don't have anymore clubs only the Executive Tour bag you see there.

Update on bike after a little over 500 miles on it since getting it back on the road.

the windshield helped with the gas mileage, last tank it go 32.5 MPG, I can deal with that.
I really like the Honda 750 bars I got from Mikes XS, much better than the tillers.

Now other things, Clutch slips if I really get on it, 68,000 on the clock so probably worn. Anyone know if a 78 clutch basket will fit in a 79?

Also have some leaks, it had a leak at the base gasket, I got that one stoped. There is also one at the back seal on the Middle Drive unit.
And a very slight leak from the drain bolt, when I changed the oil I noticed a thread on the bolt and no crush washer, I put a crush washer on and was hoping that would cure any problem, drips 3 drops overnite.

Bike rides, runs , and handles very well. I like it.

            Thanks, Steve

Yes. All the clutch baskets for all the models (even the XJ) are identical. In fact, Yamaha used the same clutch for many bikes into this century.
