Source of speedometer housing gasket

Folks,

I had to remove my speedo today to grease up the input shaft and to replace burned out bulbs. Needless to say, after 31 years, the gasket/damper that sits between the meter and the housing/mount is completely toast. I've checked bike bandit and they don't have this gasket.

Any other sources for this thing? Or am I stuck with trying to use RTV and glue the original one back together?

I've replaced the gaskets on both the round and square type guages with weatherstripping from Home Depot. There is a round edge type available that just needs one part trimmed off, then just put the seam on the bottom with a dab of RTV. The type that I used was white, so I painted it black, it looks like new.

IIRC, this is the type I used. I cut one round side off, but left the flat part on, which I stuck to the internal housing, then the external housing slips right over it exposing just the round edge.

Interesting. I don't think I would have even stopped to look at that style, but I definitely see how that would work with a bit of trimming. Thanks!

New ones are available from Yamaha. PN 3H3-83513-00-00 List price is $21.55 each. It's called a damper.

I found them for >$30 at Yamaha Sportscenter.

The round ones are easier to find then the square ones. They are very few and far between. E-bay sometimes but not often. At 20 some odd dollars a pop, it's often cheaper to buy a set of gages and salvage the damper out of them with care.

I've been happy with the modified gasket. The stuff is cheap and you get enough for a couple dozen gauges. It doesn't look EXACTLY like the stock, but only a crazy person would notice (or care about) the difference.
