I fired my XS up yesterday for the first time. As best as I can tell it's been 17 years since it was started. I built a simple wiring harness, changed plugs, oil and filter, thoroughly cleaned the carbs, and hooked up a temporary gas tank. It cranked over about twice before starting up. There was an awesome cloud of smoke since I had lubed the cylinders when I first got it home. That soon cleared and it hummed along nicely. Still need air filters and a good carb sync but it's gonna make it. I need to replace the #3 carb body and posted an add in the parts wanted section. All in all a good day!

I sprayed a bunch of PB Blaster in the cylinders for several days before trying to spin it over with the kicker. After running in the driveway and getting good and warm I checked the compression, 150 on 1,3,and 4. #2 was 125. I expect it will even out with some good hard riding.
