  • Shock air pressure

I have an '82 XJ 1100 maxim. Does anyone know how much air pressure should be in the front and rear shocks? any info would be helpful. And where I might find a repair manuel for this bike?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

If you go through the threads there is a member that has all the manuals for the bike to download. Repair manual owners manual and drive shaft manual. In the owners manual is a chart for setting air pressure and dampening.

His name is CatatonicBug. He has a link in his signature line to his personal website and he has the different manuals there.

Not sure if he has a XJ manual but I think there might be one there.

The pressure in the forks and shocks is based on personally preference. I have an XS, but I have XJ shocks on the back and the 80 has air forks. I run 16 psi in the front with 15w fork oil (silkolene) and 44 psi in the rear with the dampers set on 4. But then I'm a big guy and have a full dresser setup, so what works for me very likely won't work for you. Adjust the pressure very carefully using a hand pump, and move the pressure up and down a little till your happy with the ride. It took me a while to dial in to the pressures that work for me.
