That sucks, the Specials do have an petcock "off" position. Don't rely on that octy.

Is that a mechanical OFF in the petcock that is positive or can fuel still leak past the petcocks even in the off position?

Fuel can leak even in the off position if your petcock rubber is worn out. Petcock rebuild kit are available though. From what I know the handle part of the petcock points to the word off when it is in the off position. I switched mine around as this always confused me.

Off position should be with the levers pointing forward.

Meaning the lever's arm is over the work OFF. Just like on the standard model?

Is the "octopus valve" not functioning, or was it removed? You must have left the fuel cocks in the "on" position.

Standard model petcock has no off position, unless of course you modify it.

Yes Rob, whatever word the handle is covering is the position of the petcock.

Special model petcocks do not operate on vacuum like the standards. I did a write up of the procedure to rebuild a little while back. Prime of course will have the same effect as ON only no mercy from the octopus if it is still in place and functioning.

LOL Yes I know the standard has no off position but the lever is over the word for the function you want on the standard.

Octi is still there and I was sure it was working because there had been no leaks what so ever until last night. However, Like I was saying, I did correct the kinked fuel hoses. I must conclude that the kinks were limiting fuel flow.

Yes I did leave the petcocks in the on position but did so thinking the octi was working. Won't do that again and I will have to get into the habit of doing that because it's not necessary or as pointed out even avalable on the standard model.
