Hey guys I am really excited now!!
I got the pilot jets out of the carbs I bought from the bone yard and was able to get the original carbs free from the rack bars then pulled the choke bar out and took out the choke plunger with the rubber around the shaft, now is there any more rubber that I need to remove before dipping them overnight?
Is the butterfly assembly ok to leave in?
next I will try to take the BY carbs off the rack bars.
The BY carbs are all ok so far except one float post was broken and I can fix that ya'll say, so should I fix the post and clean them up and use them or should I use the two bodies that I need to fix the originals that were in much better shape and I know they only have 18000 miles on them?
I went by the Yamaha dealer the other day and WOW the bikes there were awesome, they look like Harleys, I haven't been in a show room in 15 yrs so it was amazing to see what the bikes look liked and then to find out there is a 1600cc.
Now for the plan to buy a new one has already begun with the wife. LOL Baby I want a chopper........naaah I saw these really nice bikes at the dealer today and they would be much safer and comfortable than this XS, and she said well get rid of the old (second) boat and fix that XS then you can go get a new one!!! I almost crapped my drawers.
Thanks
Charlie
